Oby Ezekwesili Calls Presidency, NASS ‘Bandits’ for Prioritizing Luxury Over Citizens’ Welfare

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has delivered a scathing critique of the Nigerian presidency and the National Assembly, accusing them of prioritizing personal luxury over the well-being of the nation’s citizens.
In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Ezekwesili expressed her outrage over purchasing a new presidential aircraft, a decision she believes reflects a blatant disregard for the country’s worsening economic situation.
Ezekwesili pointed out that the existing presidential aircraft, which has been in use for 19 years, was being replaced even as the poverty rate in Nigeria continues to rise. She condemned this decision, stating, “The fellows dare to play with the intelligence of the public.
The executive, the presidency, the National Assembly, I think they have decided that they are the bandits. The political class has decided that they are bandits against Nigerians.”
She also criticized the government for other extravagant expenditures, such as the construction of N20 billion homes
