Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate in Nigeria, has congratulated Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States, held on Monday, January 20.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, described Trump’s victory as a testament to the resilience of democracy and the enduring will of the American people.

“It is my hope that your presidency will be marked by policies that foster global stability, economic growth, and strengthened international partnerships, particularly between the United States and Africa,” Obi said.

Recognizing the immense responsibility of the office, Obi urged Trump to prioritize unity, equity, and justice as essential principles for achieving sustainable growth and global harmony.

“As you assume this great responsibility, I urge you to champion the values of unity, equity, and justice, which are the bedrock of sustainable progress.
