Legendary Actor and Iconic Voice of Darth Vader, James Earl Jones, Dies at 93

Legendary actor James Earl Jones, renowned for his countless movie roles and iconic portrayal of Darth Vader’s voice in the “Star Wars” franchise, has passed away at the age of 93, his representative confirmed to ABC News.

Jones died peacefully on Monday morning at his home in Dutchess County, New York, surrounded by his loved ones, according to his longtime agent, Barry McPherson.

With a career spanning over six decades, Jones was celebrated for his commanding, resonant voice that defined the character of Darth Vader. He earned three Tony Awards, including a lifetime achievement honor in 2017, as well as two Emmys and a Grammy. In 2011, the Academy Awards recognized him for his lifetime contributions to the industry.

Born in 1931 in Mississippi, Jones overcame a severe stutter as a child to become one of the most distinguished voices in entertainment.
