Kogi Governor Ododo Celebrates Predecessor Yahaya Bello’s Release from Kuje Prison

The Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, expressed joy and celebrated the release of his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, from the Kuje Correctional Facility on Friday, December 20.

Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, is facing charges of money laundering, corruption, and an alleged ₦80 billion fraud during his tenure. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Bello before an Abuja court after he evaded arrest for a prolonged period.

Following his arraignment, the court ordered Bello’s remand at the Kuje Correctional Facility and set his bail conditions at ₦500 million, with sureties in like sum.

Videos circulating on social media captured Bello smiling and surrounded by family members and associates upon his release. Among those welcoming him was the current governor, Usman Ododo, who joined in celebrating the return of his predecessor.

Despite his release, Bello’s legal battle is far from over, as the EFCC continues to pursue its allegations. Observers are closely watching the case, which has drawn significant public attention.
