Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote and US President Donald Trump have been named among TIME’s 100 Most Influential People for 2026, highlighting their continued impact on business, politics, and global affairs.
The annual list, released on April 15, honours people shaping conversations across industries including politics, technology, health, and culture.
Dangote was listed in the Titans category and was the only Nigerian featured this year. This marks his second appearance on the TIME100 list, having first been recognised in 2014.
TIME praised Dangote’s long-term industrial vision and his investments in manufacturing, fertiliser, sugar refining, infrastructure, and energy. The magazine noted that his business empire has helped reduce import dependence and boost production across Africa.
As founder of the Dangote Group, Dangote has expanded into major sectors critical to economic development. His philanthropic work through the Aliko Dangote Foundation was also cited as part of his broader influence.
The recognition comes as Dangote pushes forward with his Vision 2030 strategy, which aims to grow the group from a $30 billion regional company into a $100 billion global enterprise.
Trump also made the list alongside world leaders such as Xi Jinping, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Mark Carney.
Other prominent figures on the list include Sundar Pichai, Neal Mohan, and Artemis II commander Reid Wiseman.
The 2026 list also reflected wider African representation, with several leaders, innovators, and cultural figures from across the continent earning recognition.
