Gov. Abiodun Imposes Curfew On Sagamu LGA

The Governor of Ogun, Dapo Abiodun has imposed a curfew on Sagamu LGA after violent cult clashes on Sunday.

The governor has announced a seven-to-six curfew in Sagamu town and urged residents of Sagamu to abide by the restriction order pending when security agencies restore normalcy. Reacting to the incident on Monday, the Ogun governor said he has ordered the police and other security agencies in the state to swiftly restore normalcy and deal “ruthlessly” with those disturbing the peace of the town. “Following recent clashes among rival cult groups in Sagamu, we have announced a restriction of movement from 7:00 PM. to 6:00 AM,” he wrote on his X page.

“We, therefore, urge residents of the town to abide by the restriction order pending the time the security of the area will improve, as police and other security agencies are on top of the situation to restore normalcy.

“Although security agencies have been working tirelessly at eradicating cultism in the state with the support of our administration, a renewed directive came in the wake of the recent clash among rival cult gangs in Sagamu town during the weekend that incited violence causing tension and panic amongst residents of the town. “We regret this avoidable situation, loss of innocent lives, and wanton destruction of properties by the hoodlums.

“However, it should be noted that security agents Ogun police and sister security agencies have since been on the ground to restore normalcy in the troubled town.”
