The Federal Government has announced the immediate reopening of the Independence Bridge (Ahmadu Bello Way-Marina bound) to vehicular traffic.

Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha.

The bridge had been closed since April 1 for essential maintenance and was initially scheduled to remain shut until May. However, Umahi stated that full repair works would be carried out at a later date, while palliative measures are currently being implemented to ensure the bridge remains motorable.
