DSS Refutes Claims of Unlawful Presence at SERAP’s Office

The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied accusations from the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) that its operatives unlawfully occupied the group’s Abuja office. SERAP had called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene, citing harassment and intimidation.

In response, the DSS clarified that its visit was part of a routine investigation, not an illegal raid, as alleged by SERAP. The agency emphasized that the officers were unarmed and were performing their duties lawfully, dismissing the claims as misleading.

The DSS urged the public to disregard the “false narratives” and reiterated its commitment to professionalism. It also encouraged citizens to cooperate in safeguarding national security. The visit came after SERAP’s call to investigate the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) over rising petrol prices.
