Donnarumma’s PSG Exit Turns Sour as Premier League Move Looms

Tensions have escalated between Gianluigi Donnarumma and Paris Saint-Germain, with head coach Luis Enrique and the Italian goalkeeper appearing at loggerheads just months after securing the long-awaited Champions League trophy for the club.

The rift has spilled into the public eye, with Donnarumma’s agent, Enzo Raiola, revealing that a Premier League switch is now a strong possibility.
“We will consider solutions now, maybe in Premier League there will be clubs able to pay what’s needed,” Raiola told reporters. “Paris Saint-Germain are asking for big money. They talk about respect, but it’s only about the money.”

Raiola expressed his disappointment with PSG’s handling of the situation.
“We are shocked by PSG. There’s zero respect by the club after four years together,” he told Sky Sport. “Gigio was even ready to reduce his salary, but PSG changed the conditions again. We will also review the matter with our legal team.”

In an official statement addressed to PSG fans, Donnarumma said:

“From the first day I arrived, I gave everything on and off the pitch to earn my place and defend the goal of Paris Saint-Germain. Unfortunately, someone has decided that I can no longer be part of the group and contribute to the team’s success. I am disappointed and disheartened. I hope to have the opportunity to look the fans at the Parc des Princes in the eyes one more time and say goodbye as it should be done. If that doesn’t happen, I want you to know that your support and affection mean the world to me, and I will never forget it. I will always carry with me the memory of all the emotions, the magical nights, and of you, who made me feel at home. To my teammates my second family thank you for every battle, every laugh, every moment we shared. You will always be my brothers. Playing for this club and living in this city has been an immense honour.”

Coach Luis Enrique confirmed his decision to drop the Italian international.

“Donnarumma is out of the squad as it’s my own decision. I am 100% responsible,” he stated. “I want a different kind of goalkeeper and I made this decision. Gigio is one of the best GKs in the whole world.”

With his PSG chapter seemingly closed, Donnarumma’s next move could see him guarding the posts in the Premier League.
