FC Barcelona have been crowned Spanish champions under manager Hansi Flick after a decisive 2–0 victory over arch-rivals Real Madrid in El Clásico on Sunday.

The win secured Barcelona’s 29th La Liga title, moving them 14 points clear at the top of the table with just three matches remaining, effectively sealing the championship in the rivalry fixture itself.

Early goals from Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres were enough to settle the contest and hand Barça a historic triumph over their biggest rivals.

This result marked a rare moment in Spanish football history, as it is only the second time La Liga has been directly decided by an El Clásico outcome, underlining the significance of the fixture in determining the title race.

Despite the emotional weight of the match, Flick remained on the sidelines after the announcement of his father’s death shortly before kickoff. Players from both sides wore black armbands, and a moment of silence was observed before the match began.

Barcelona’s dominance this season has been emphatic. They have collected 91 points from 35 matches, registering 30 wins and scoring a league-high 91 goals 21 more than second-placed Real Madrid.

The victory also confirms a strong era of consistency for the Catalan club, which has now won 11 of the last 18 La Liga titles, reinforcing its status as one of Europe’s most successful teams.

Since Flick’s arrival in 2024, Barcelona have secured consecutive league titles, along with additional trophies including the Spanish Super Cup in both seasons and last year’s Copa del Rey. The club has now lifted five trophies under his leadership.

Historically, only Real Madrid with 36 titles have more La Liga championships than Barcelona, who now move further ahead of third-placed Atlético Madrid.
