APGA Schedules Anambra 2025 Governorship Primary for Today

The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially scheduled its 2025 governorship primary election for Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Anambra State.

According to a statement signed by Ifeanyi Mbaeri, the party’s National Organizing Secretary and Secretary of the 2025 Electoral Committee, the primary will be held at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, starting at 8:00 a.m. with the accreditation of delegates and observers.

To ensure a transparent and credible process, a five-member Electoral Committee has been set up, headed by Chief Uche Nwegbo, APGA’s Deputy National Chairman (South).

Key Highlights of the Process Include:

  • Accreditation:
Will take place outside the venue, along the tarred road leading to the New Government House. It will close at 12:00 noon, and only those in queue by the deadline will be accredited.
  • Venue Access:
Restricted strictly to duly accredited delegates and observers. Valid identification (National ID, International Passport, Voter’s Card, or any government-issued ID) and visible accreditation tags are mandatory.
  • Seating Arrangement:
Accredited delegates will sit in clearly marked stands representing their Local Government Areas (LGAs). Observers will have a designated area, while elected officials must sit with their LGA groups.
  • Voting Procedure:
Voting will be by balloting, with delegates marking either YES or NO on the ballot papers. Voting will be conducted LGA by LGA in alphabetical order, and the process must remain peaceful and orderly.
  • Counting and Declaration:
Votes will be sorted, counted, and the result declared by the Electoral Committee at the venue immediately after voting concludes.

Mbaeri emphasized that the election will strictly comply with the 1999 Constitution, the Electoral Act, 2022, and INEC guidelines. Delegates and observers are expected to fully adhere to all procedures outlined.

The primary is a crucial step as APGA prepares to defend its stronghold in Anambra and position itself ahead of the 2025 gubernatorial elections.
