Akeredolu Extends Medical Leave As Ondo Deputy Gov Continues As Acting Gov

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu
Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has requested that his medical leave be extended by the state House of Assembly.

In his letter, he stated that his request was based on doctors’ advice, implying that he needed more rest after his recovery.

In Akure, the state capital, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, confirmed receipt of the letter.

Oladiji praised Akeredolu for abiding by the Federal Republic of Nigeria Constitution, particularly Section 190, and expressed thanks for his quick recuperation and optimism for his return.

Governor Akeredolu indicated in his letter that Deputy Governor Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa will serve as interim governor “until there is a written declaration to the contrary”

Earlier, on 5th June 2023, Akeredolu had informed the Assembly about his medical leave, which was originally expected to end on 6th July 2023.

The state’s Organized Labor has asked the governor to prioritize rest before returning to work, emphasizing his speedy recovery but recommending additional recuperation time before he resumes his duties.

NLC Chairperson Comrade Oladele Victor Amoko, JNC Chairman Comrade Olapade Ademola, and TUC Chairman Comrade Clement Fatuase issued a unified statement.

They expressed their joy at the governor’s swift recovery and gratitude for his loyal service.

They expressed confidence in the state’s steady operation while urging residents to pray for the governor’s health.

They stated that Governor Akeredolu “has proven to be the finest governor in recent times” and promised their continuous support for his government.
