Benue State Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has pledged to strengthen education and accelerate people-oriented development as his administration builds on its achievements over the last three years.
Alia made the commitment during his Thank-You Tour of Benue, assuring residents that the government would sustain investments in human capital development and critical infrastructure.
The governor said his administration, having recruited 9,700 primary school teachers, was preparing to employ more teachers for both primary and secondary schools to address manpower shortages and improve the quality of education.
He also assured residents that projects with direct impact on their lives would remain a priority, stressing that the achievements recorded so far represented only part of his administration’s broader development agenda.
Alia called for unity among Benue residents, urging them to put the collective interest of the state above political differences and work together to promote peace, stability and development.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support to Benue and urged residents to continue cooperating with the Federal Government to facilitate further development across the state.
The governor began the tour in Buruku Federal Constituency, where he held meetings with traditional rulers, religious leaders and political stakeholders.
Chairman of Buruku Local Government Area, Raymond Zege, welcomed Alia and his entourage and pledged the continued support of the people, including backing for the governor’s re-election in 2027.
The Special Adviser to the governor on Foreign Affairs, Alex Adingi, commended the administration’s interventions and appealed for additional development projects.
At Gboko, Alia again met with traditional rulers, religious leaders, political leaders and other stakeholders.
Chairman of Tarka Local Government Area, Raphael Yenge, expressed appreciation for projects executed across Gboko and Tarka and assured the governor of continued support.
Speaking on behalf of Gboko and Tarka respectively, Elder Atsenda Ishwa and Elder Iortyer commended the governor’s achievements and legacy projects while calling for further interventions.
The APC State Women Leader, Helen Agaigbe, alongside women and youth leaders from Gboko and Tarka, also pledged continued mobilisation for Alia’s re-election.
APC State Chairman Benjamin Omale thanked residents for their support for the party and the Alia administration and urged them to intensify mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Former Governor Gabriel Suswam, meanwhile, appealed to the people of Jemgbagh to avoid political distractions and support Alia, whom he described as their son, for a successful re-election bid.
The tour brought together political office holders, traditional and religious leaders, women and youth leaders and other stakeholders from the affected constituencies.
