The Zamfara State Government has announced that about 300 suspected terrorists were neutralised during a major security operation conducted in Gummi Local Government Area of the state.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Mahmud Dantawasa, who described the operation as a significant breakthrough in the fight against terrorism and other violent crimes in the state.
According to the statement, the operation, which took place on July 9, 2026, represents a major step in ongoing efforts to restore peace, security and socio-economic activities in Zamfara State and the wider North-West region.
Dantawasa said Governor Dauda Lawal commended the gallantry, professionalism and sacrifices of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies that participated in the operation, noting that their efforts had renewed hope among residents.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through the provision of logistics, intelligence sharing and other lawful measures aimed at restoring lasting peace across the state.
The commissioner assured residents that the state government remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting lives and property under the administration’s Rescue Mission Agenda.
He added that the government has urged security agencies to sustain the ongoing offensive against terrorists and bandits until every part of Zamfara State is free from criminal activities.
