Ganduje Denies NDC Defection Claims, Reaffirms Loyality to APC

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed speculation that he is planning to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), describing the claims as false and reaffirming his unwavering loyalty to the ruling party.

The former Kano State governor was reacting to posters circulating on social media suggesting he was preparing to defect to the NDC. He insisted he remains a politician guided by conviction rather than personal ambition or political convenience.

“I am not a nomadic politician” or a vulture “flying from one tree to another” in pursuit of personal ambition or political convenience, he said.

Ganduje’s position was contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by his Chief of Staff and former Kano State Commissioner for Information, Comrade Muhammad Garba.

According to the statement, the posters are part of a deliberate misinformation campaign aimed at misleading the public, creating unnecessary anxiety within the APC and fuelling unfounded political speculation.

The statement stressed that Ganduje has never considered leaving the ruling party, describing reports linking him with the NDC as lacking “both political and logical foundation.”

“Dr. Ganduje has remained consistent in his political convictions and has never contemplated leaving the APC, a party he served as its National Chairman,” the statement read.

Reaffirming his loyalty to the APC, Ganduje described the party as Nigeria’s largest and most formidable political platform, adding that it continues to enjoy growing support across the country under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He also alleged that the fake posters were produced by political mischief-makers seeking to damage his reputation and create disunity within the ruling party.

The former APC National Chairman disclosed that those responsible for producing and circulating the materials had been identified and warned that legal action would be taken unless they immediately withdrew the defamatory posters and stopped further circulation.

“Those responsible for producing and circulating the fake posters had been identified, warning that unless they immediately withdraw the defamatory materials and cease further dissemination, appropriate legal action would be taken against them,” the statement added.

Ganduje urged APC members, supporters and the general public to disregard the posters, insisting they do not reflect his political position or future intentions.

He further reaffirmed his commitment to working with President Tinubu and the APC leadership to consolidate the achievements of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthen the party ahead of future political engagements.

This approach avoids copying the source’s opening sentence while making the story more engaging from the outset.
