Ipswich Seal Premier League Return with 3-0 Win Over QPR

Ipswich Town secured an immediate return to the Premier League after defeating Queens Park Rangers 3-0 on the final day of the Championship season at Portman Road.

Relegated just a year ago, Ipswich bounced back at the first attempt under Kieran McKenna, sealing their third promotion in four seasons in a remarkable rise for the Suffolk club.

Knowing victory would guarantee promotion regardless of results elsewhere, Ipswich made a flying start. George Hirst opened the scoring inside nine minutes before Jaden Philogene doubled the lead shortly after. Substitute Kasey McAteer added a late third to cap a dominant performance.

Ipswich controlled the game throughout, with only limited threat from QPR, who ended a disappointing campaign in 15th place after a poor run of form.

The victory confirmed Ipswich as one of the automatic promotion teams alongside Coventry City, while four clubs Millwall, Hull City, Southampton, and Middlesbrough—will contest the final promotion spot through the play-offs.

Ipswich’s return to the top flight marks a swift recovery and underlines the impact of McKenna’s leadership during a transformative period for the club.
