Ogun Now Competes Only With Lagos, Says Abiodun

Governor Dapo Abiodun says Ogun State has witnessed rapid economic and infrastructure growth, placing it among the top-performing states in the country.
Speaking in Abuja during the APC national convention, the governor credited the progress to sustained reforms and investment-focused policies implemented by his administration.
“My state is the fastest growing economy in this country. I’m the industrial capital of this country. My GDP has grown from four trillion to 17 trillion in just seven years,” he said.
Abiodun described the transformation as significant, adding that governance has been brought closer to the people with visible improvements across multiple sectors.
“My state has become a near El Dorado. And everybody can testify to that. Things have totally turned around in my state,” he stated.
He noted that Ogun’s rising profile now puts it in direct comparison with Lagos State, saying few states currently match its level of development.
“My state has achieved a level of prominence where we are only compared today with only one state, and that’s Lagos State,” he added.
On security, the governor acknowledged ongoing challenges but expressed confidence in law enforcement agencies, noting that efforts to tackle crime are ongoing and require time.
“But you know the process of identifying, arresting criminals, it is a process. And I’m sure the law enforcement agencies are on top of it again,” he said.
He also hinted at political factors influencing developments across states, while expressing optimism that the Federal Government would stabilise the situation ahead of upcoming elections.
“Mr President is on top of the situation, and I’m sure that between now and elections, you will see this begin to taper out,” Abiodun added.
