Actor and director Timothy Busfield, best known for his role as Danny Concannon on The West Wing, is facing charges of criminal sexual contact of a minor and child abuse, according to an arrest warrant issued in New Mexico.

Busfield is accused of inappropriately touching a child actor on the set of The Cleaning Lady, a television series in which he served as both director and cast member, according to a criminal complaint filed with law enforcement.

The Albuquerque Police Department issued a warrant Friday charging Busfield with two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse. It remains unclear whether he is currently in custody. Representatives for Busfield did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The complaint states that Busfield denied the allegations when questioned by investigators.

According to court documents, the child’s parents reported that the alleged abuse began in 2022, when the boy was 7 years old. The investigation was launched in November 2024 after a physician at the University of New Mexico Hospital examined the child and reported suspected sexual abuse to authorities.

Police later interviewed the child’s parents, who said their son and his twin brother were both child actors. At the time of the initial inquiry, the children did not disclose sexual abuse. However, the victim’s mother later reported to child protective services that Busfield had allegedly abused her son from November 2022 through the spring of 2024.

Attorneys for Warner Bros., which produces The Cleaning Lady, told investigators the company previously conducted an internal review of the allegations but said it found no evidence supporting the claims at that time, according to the complaint.

In a statement, Warner Bros. Television said: “We take all allegations of misconduct very seriously and have systems in place to promptly and thoroughly investigate, and when needed, take appropriate action. We are aware of the current charges against Mr. Busfield and have been and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement.”

Busfield is married to actress Melissa Gilbert. Court records detailing an initial court appearance or bond conditions were not immediately available. Authorities said the case remains under investigation.
