Rap superstar Nicki Minaj and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Michael Waltz are slated to speak at a high-profile event this week focused on the persecution of Christians in Nigeria, a collaboration that has drawn global attention to the crisis.
The joint appearance — coordinated by political strategist Alex Bruesewitz — signals a rare intersection of pop culture influence and diplomatic advocacy as violence against Christian communities in Nigeria continues to escalate.
In a post praising Minaj’s involvement, Ambassador Waltz wrote:
“@NICKIMINAJ is not only arguably the greatest female recording artist, but also a principled individual who refuses to remain silent in the face of injustice. I’m grateful she’s leveraging her massive platform to spotlight atrocities against Christians in Nigeria.”
Minaj replied with a statement of gratitude and purpose:
“Ambassador, I am so grateful to be entrusted with an opportunity of this magnitude. It means more than you know. The Barbz & I will never stand down in the face of injustice. We’ve been given our influence by God. There must be a bigger purpose.”
The event, set for Tuesday, will include remarks from both Minaj and Waltz, outlining the steps the U.S. government says it is taking to confront and reduce targeted attacks on Christian populations in the West African nation.
