The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has questioned the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, as part of its investigation into the controversy surrounding the disputed Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).

The probe follows allegations by the agency’s controversial Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claimed he paid Gbajabiamila N400 million to secure his appointment.

Adeyemi also alleged that the Chief of Staff demanded 48 per cent of the agency’s proposed N27.3 billion take-off grant.

According to him, his dealings with Gbajabiamila were facilitated through the late Babatunde Tanimola, whom he claimed should also be central to the investigation.

Gbajabiamila has denied the allegations and instituted a N15 billion defamation suit against Adeyemi.

Following the claims and counterclaims, President Bola Tinubu directed the ICPC to investigate the matter and submit its findings within 30 days.

Confirming his client’s appearance before the anti-graft agency, Gbajabiamila’s lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, said the Chief of Staff honoured the commission’s invitation on Monday in compliance with the President’s directive.

“In full cooperation with the ICPC acting as directed by the President of Nigeria, I hereby confirm that my client, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, responded to the invitation and appeared at about 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the ‘PFIPC’ fake agency, among others,” Ogunye said.

He added that Gbajabiamila gave his testimony, responded to questions from investigators and subsequently returned to his official duties after the session with the commission.
