The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that the party is set to unseat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 Plateau State governorship election.
Speaking on Saturday at a reception in Jos for defectors from the PDP, Labour Party (LP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Prof. Nentawe said the APC’s expanding support base positions it strongly for victory in all upcoming polls.
“Today in Plateau, we have only one political party. If you are not in the APC, then you are not in any political party,” he said. “We have enough strength to win the central, southern, and northern zones convincingly. In 2027, President Tinubu, the APC governorship candidate, senators, House of Representatives and State Assembly candidates under the APC will win all elections in Plateau State.”
Prof. Nentawe urged members of other parties to join the APC “before it is too late,” highlighting the party’s rising influence both in Plateau and nationally.
The event was attended by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, governors and deputy governors of Nasarawa and Benue states, and other senior APC figures. Prof. Nentawe welcomed the defectors, including former senators, governorship aspirants, and serving members of the House of Representatives, assuring them equal status within the party.
“On behalf of the National Working Committee and all members of the APC, I welcome all the defectors to our great party,” he said.
