The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced plans to roll out “Operations Go Cashless,” a new contactless payment system across airports nationwide.
In a statement, FAAN said the pilot phase will begin on September 29, 2025, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The initiative, developed in partnership with Paystack, is part of the authority’s broader strategy to automate and digitize its operations.
From the launch date, all payments at FAAN revenue points including airport access gates, car parks, and FAAN VIP and Protocol Lounges will be processed exclusively through cashless channels.
“Travelers and airport users will now enjoy fast and seamless services by using a secure contactless payment option,” FAAN stated. “By reducing reliance on cash, FAAN aims to enhance efficiency, improve revenue assurance, and deliver a better customer experience at our airports.”
To ensure a smooth transition, FAAN disclosed that trained brand ambassadors have been deployed at access gates and terminals to assist travelers with onboarding, provide demonstrations, and address inquiries.
Passengers can obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at any access gate in Lagos and Abuja and are encouraged to activate and fund their cards immediately after collection.
According to FAAN, the initiative is designed to meet the growing demand for safe, modern, and transparent payment systems while aligning Nigeria’s airports with global digital standards.
