Fani-Kayode Denies Interest in NFF Chairmanship, Labels Reports “Fake News”

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has dismissed media reports linking him to the chairmanship of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), describing them as “fake news.”

In a statement on Thursday, Fani-Kayode said the quotes attributed to him suggesting he had joined, and later withdrawn from, the NFF chairmanship race were fabricated.

“It has been brought to my attention that fake quotes are being attributed to me by various unknown blogs claiming that I have an interest in being Chairman of the NFF and that I have now decided to step down from the race to support someone else. This is all fake news. I know nothing about the NFF, I have no interest in the NFF or who leads it,” he said.

The former Minister of Culture added that he has no stake in football administration and has not been approached or nominated for the role. “I am not a footballer and I could not care less who the NFA Chairman is or will be,” he stressed.

Fani-Kayode also urged the public to disregard such reports, accusing “criminal blogs” of spreading falsehoods with hidden agendas. He warned that any statement not published through his verified website, X handle (@realffk), Facebook, or Instagram accounts should be treated as fake.
