President Bola Tinubu has held talks with Vincent Bolloré of the Bolloré Group in Paris as part of his working vacation, with the conglomerate announcing plans to expand its investments and local operations in Nigeria.
According to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Bolloré and his executives outlined new investments targeting Nigeria’s film and entertainment industry, fibre-optic infrastructure and other digital sectors.
The group, whose media and digital interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group, described Nigeria as a key driver of Africa’s cultural renaissance, citing the global reach of Nollywood and Afrobeats and rising international demand for Nigerian content.
Tinubu welcomed the planned expansion, saying Nigeria’s growing cultural influence provides an opportunity to attract more production, investment and jobs to the country.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s focus on economic growth, youth employment and digitalisation, adding that the government would support investments aimed at developing local talent, strengthening infrastructure and expanding Nigeria’s creative and digital economy.
He said the Renewed Hope Agenda seeks to build an economy where Nigeria’s talent, enterprise and global cultural influence translate into greater opportunities and improved livelihoods for citizens.
