The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that the newly formed opposition coalition now using the party as its political platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027 is not merely a political alliance but a people-centred movement focused on rebuilding Nigeria.
In a post shared via the party’s official X handle, the ADC emphasized that the coalition is driven by a collective vision for national transformation, rather than the usual quest for power.
“We’re not here to play politics. We’re here to build a future,” the party stated.
“ADC Coalition is more than a political movement, it’s a gathering of minds committed to real change.”
According to the ADC, the coalition prioritises substance over political theatrics, vowing to ask “the hard questions” and offer “real solutions” to Nigeria’s problems.
“We’re not moved by hype we’re moved by purpose,” the statement read.
Describing the coalition as a “Coalition of Unity,” the party said it represents a new direction in Nigerian politics one that transcends party labels and reflects the collective will of citizens eager to reclaim their future.
“Not a party. A people. Let’s reason. Let’s rise. Let’s rebuild. Arise and shine, Nigeria,” the post concluded.
The ADC’s declaration follows the formal defection of several prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party into its fold, culminating in a major political realignment on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
The coalition’s adoption of the ADC as its official political vehicle signals a significant development in Nigeria’s opposition landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections, and underscores growing efforts to build a unified front against the ruling APC.
