Former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka Resigns from PDP, Exits Partisan Politics

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his exit from active partisan politics. In a resignation letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Obosi Ward in Anambra State, Chidoka cited his desire to focus on the Athena Centre for Policy and Leadership, a nonpartisan research institute and think tank he founded.

“The mission of the Athena Centre demands my full attention and requires me to adopt a neutral stance, free from partisan affiliations,” Chidoka wrote in his letter, which he personally signed.

While stepping away from politics, Chidoka reiterated his commitment to promoting good governance, national unity, and evidence-based public service. He expressed optimism about contributing to Nigeria’s political landscape in the future, guided by values aligned with his work at the Athena Centre.

Reflecting on his political career, Chidoka acknowledged the significant role the PDP played in his appointments, including his tenure as the Federal Road Safety Corps Marshal and later as a senior cabinet minister.

“I leave the PDP with immense respect and gratitude for the opportunities it gave me to serve and contribute to national development,” he noted, wishing the party success in its efforts to reposition itself as a force for positive change in Nigeria.

Chidoka’s resignation marks a new chapter as he shifts his focus to nonpartisan research and policy advocacy.
