Gov. Dapo Abiodun Ask APC Candidates to Pursue Victory in Local Government Elections

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has encouraged the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for the upcoming November 16 local government elections to strive for a decisive victory. During a meeting on Friday with the party’s 20 LGA chairmen and candidates, including chairmanship, vice-chairmanship, and councillorship aspirants, Abiodun called for unity and collaboration within the party.

Emphasizing the importance of harmony, he advised candidates to reconcile with previous contenders and avoid any divisions that could weaken the party. “It is important that we don’t leave any room for bickering, animosity, or for anyone to go into this election…attempting to polarise the party,” he stated.

Highlighting the strategic selection of candidates, Abiodun stressed that the nominees were chosen deliberately to foster grassroots development and to align with the state’s ‘ISEYA’ (Infrastructure, Social Welfare and Well-being, Education, Youth Empowerment, and Agriculture) agenda. He urged candidates to maintain campaign consistency across local governments, noting that “there is none of you that has emerged by accident.”

Abiodun outlined recent development projects, including 700 kilometers of new roads, 4,000 housing units, 120 rehabilitated health centers, and 1,000 improved classrooms. He also mentioned ongoing economic relief efforts, such as selling rice to public servants and pensioners at a reduced price, as the state addresses economic challenges. Confident in President Bola Tinubu’s policies, Abiodun noted that the benefits of these efforts would become evident over time.

Yemi Sanusi, the APC state chairman, echoed the governor’s message, urging candidates to campaign diligently to reinforce the party’s influence and secure victory in the elections.
