The governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has gifted N30,000 on Saturday to all of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted in the northeastern state of the country.
The corps members’ temporary orientation camp in Maiduguri, the state capital, is safe, Zulum informed them during his visit to the Orientation Camp.
Additionally, he donated 10 cows, 100 bags of 10 kg beans, and 10 liters of cooking oil for the preparation of special meals for the corps members during their ongoing three-week orientation program. He also donated 100 bags of rice.
He said: “We want to extend palliatives to members of the National Youth Service Corps. Each one of you will receive the sum of N30,000; that amount will be credited to your accounts as soon as your bank details are provided to me.
“In addition to that, we have provided you with 100 bags of rice, 10 bags of 100kg beans, 10 gallons of cooking oil and 10 bulls.”
The governor also charged the corps members to obey camp rules by living peacefully among themselves and engaging in acts that would foster peace in the country.
He added: “I want you to be dedicated and loyal to constituted authorities. Make friends in this part of the country so that together we can build a prosperous Nigeria with sustainable economic growth and development.”
The governor expressed appreciation to the federal government for enhancing security in the state, which allowed the NYSC orientation camp in Maiduguri to resume operations after 12 years of closure due to activities of Boko haram.
