Sudan: RSF, Sudanese Military Agree To A Three-day Ceasefire

RSF, Military Temporary Cease fire
The warring generals in the Sudan have agreed to a three-day ceasefire beginning on Tuesday  according to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
This comes after earlier attempts to halt the fighting quickly failed.
About two hours before the ceasefire was to begin, Blinken made a statement in which he announced the truce.
He said: “Following intense negotiation over the past 48 hours, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have agreed to implement a nationwide ceasefire starting at midnight on April 24, to last for 72 hours.”
“During this period, the United States urges the SAF and RSF to immediately and fully uphold the ceasefire,” Blinken added.
According to Blinken, the US was also working with partners to form a committee that would negotiate a long-term ceasefire in Sudan.
The US Secretary of State spoke on the phone with counterparts from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in addition to meeting with Kenya’s top diplomat earlier on Monday in Washington to discuss peace efforts.
