Tinubu met with captains of industry and other key players in the private sector at a town hall meeting at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The APC presidential candidate said his rivals lacked the achievement and experience to lead the country in 2023.
Tinubu would be contesting the 2023 Presidency with the presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar; the Labour Party, Peter Obi; and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, among others.
While speaking at the business leaders meeting the APC candidate said he has the best qualifications and achievements to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023, adding that other candidates fool Nigerians with statistics and lies.
Tinubu, therefore, promised to build on the achievements of the Muhammadu Buhari-led government if elected as the next President.
He said, “Democracy doesn’t mean that everything is going to be perfect but on the higher percentage, perfection is achieved at the right at which we work for the highest population of the country or the environment, local governments would continue to see what constitutionally can be done to strengthen the local governments.
“Then we will look at the qualifications and achievements of an individual during the processes, but don’t forget, we are in a multi-party democracy so we will have those mistakes once the wrong party gets in and you have one of the candidates who wants to be a president who is fond of saying ‘when you do the right thing.’
“How to solve his problem is by when we do the right. What is the right thing? They fool you with foolish statistics and lies. Don’t get me into the mood of the campaign.”
Those in attendance of the business leaders meeting are, President of Dangote Group; Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Zenith Bank; Jim Ovia, Chairman of UBA; Tony Elumelu, former Chief Executive of Access Bank; Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Group Chief Executive of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe, former Chairman of Forte Oil, Femi Otedola.
Others present at the meeting were Tinubu’s running mate, Kashim Shettima; the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong; APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, and APC Women Leader, Betty Edu.
Several Governors of the APC included Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Albulrahman Abudulrasaq (Kwara), Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano) as well as other APC leaders and chieftains.
