Buhari Appoints New Minister Of State, Works And Housing

President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn in Malam Muazu Sambo, the newly appointed Minister of State for Works and Housing.

Buhari carried out the swearing-in on Friday shortly before the opening of the meeting of the National Security Council in the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, and Ministers of Justice, Defence, Interior, Police Affairs, and Foreign Affairs are among those in attendance at the security meeting.

Others are service chiefs, Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, the National Security Adviser to the President Babagana Monguno; Director-General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Bichi as well as the Director-General, NIA, Abubakar Rufa’i.

Sambo replaces Mamman Sale, former Minister of Power, also from Taraba, who was sacked in September by Buhari.

Recall that the Nigerian Senate had on Tuesday screened and confirmed Muazu Sambo as a minister-designate.

In a letter to the National Assembly, the President asked the Senate to screen and confirm the minister-designate.

During his screening, Sambo said he will crack the issues hindering the progress of the Mambilla power project within one year and settle the issue of Sunrise Power Transmission Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPTCL).

Sambo said it is sad that after so many years after its conception, the power project is not yet complete.
