Zamfara Launches Healthcare Enrollment for 28,800 LG Staff

The Zamfara State Government has commenced the enrollment of over 28,800 local government staff into the state’s Contributory Healthcare Scheme.

State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun, disclosed this while supervising the exercise in Tsafe Local Government Area. She praised the Zamfara State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (ZAMCHEMA) for spearheading the enrollment drive across all 14 local government areas.

Maradun explained that the scheme aims to provide affordable and quality healthcare services to local government employees, staff of the Agency for Mass Education, and personnel of Local Education Authorities. She assured that all 28,800 staff members would be enrolled before the end of September 2025, noting that the initiative aligns with Governor Dauda Lawal’s declaration of a state of emergency in the health sector.

The Commissioner also commended local government chairmen for their cooperation in facilitating the process and lauded Governor Lawal for his dedication to transforming healthcare delivery under his Rescue Mission Agenda.

She urged staff to take full advantage of the scheme, highlighting its significance in enhancing the well-being of workers and their families.
