Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has issued a stern warning to PDP governors backing Governor Siminalayi Fubara, threatening severe repercussions if they persist in undermining the party’s internal structure.
At a recent Rivers State PDP Congress in Port Harcourt, Wike reaffirmed his determination to maintain control over the party, stating, “No one will take the PDP structure from us. Those governors hoping to shift the structure to another person should beware—I will ‘put fire’ in their states.”
Wike emphasized the party’s unity and his commitment to defending its integrity: “We have taken over our party, and we will not allow anyone to take it from us. If governors believe they can wrest control and give it to someone else, they are mistaken. I will ensure they face the consequences.”
The tension between Wike and Fubara has been evident since Fubara took office in 2023, leading to internal conflicts within the Rivers State legislature. Despite mediation efforts, the situation remains unresolved, and Wike’s frustration grows with continued support for Fubara from PDP governors.
