Wike Waives Law School Bwari C of O Fees, Orders Upgrade

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved an immediate waiver of Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) fees for the Nigerian Law School campus in Bwari, Abuja.

Wike gave the directive during a meeting with the management of the institution, expressing surprise that the school had operated without formal land documentation since its relocation to Bwari. He ordered that the C of O be processed within one week and instructed the FCT Director of Lands to waive all associated fees.

Describing the situation as part of a broader issue of undocumented government assets, the minister said his administration is committed to regularising land ownership for public institutions.

Beyond the land approval, Wike also declared emergency interventions to improve infrastructure at the campus.

He revealed that 10 staff quarters have already been completed and will be commissioned during President Bola Tinubu’s third anniversary events. He also approved the construction of an additional 10 units using existing designs to reduce costs.

The minister further disclosed that new male and female hostels are under construction to address overcrowding, alongside approval for a new auditorium.

Wike stressed that the staff housing project must be treated as an emergency to ensure speedy delivery, adding that all efforts are aimed at improving learning and working conditions at the institution.

He also directed the Law School to collaborate with the FCTA General Counsel on digitising administrative systems, similar to ongoing reforms at the FCT High Court.

According to him, the interventions align with President Tinubu’s broader agenda of strengthening legal education and judicial infrastructure.

Earlier, the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Dr Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote, commended the Minister for ongoing infrastructure development in the FCT while highlighting challenges facing the campus.
