Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed condolences to the families of victims killed in an airstrike during a military operation in Silame Local Government Area, Sokoto State. The incident, which occurred on December 25, claimed the lives of ten civilians while targeting the logistics base of the Lakurawa insurgent group in Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa communities.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima described the civilian casualties as a tragic and rare misstep during counter-terrorism efforts. “We are deeply sorry for the loss of innocent lives and the excruciating pain inflicted on the affected families,” he said.
