U.S. Men’s National Team Set to Reveal FIFA World Cup Roster

The United States men’s national soccer team will announce its roster for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday, finalizing the squad that will attempt to deliver the country’s first World Cup title.

Tournament rules require each national team to name a roster of between 23 and 26 players, including at least three goalkeepers.

The United States will host the World Cup for the first time since 1994, with the 2026 tournament also being co-hosted by Mexico and Canada.

During the 1994 tournament, the U.S. reached the Round of 16 before losing 1-0 to Brazil.

The 2026 World Cup is scheduled to begin on June 11, when Mexico faces South Africa in Mexico City.

The United States will open its campaign on June 12 against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

Despite the nation’s success in several international sports, the U.S. men’s soccer team has struggled to establish itself as a consistent World Cup contender. Since 1990, the Americans have advanced beyond the Round of 16 only once — a quarterfinal run at the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan.

After failing to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, the U.S. returned to the tournament in 2022 and reached the knockout stage before falling 3-1 to Netherlands.

Since then, the national team has undergone a coaching change, with former Argentina defender Mauricio Pochettino taking over as head coach in September 2024, replacing Gregg Berhalter.
