President Bola Tinubu has commended Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for his infrastructural achievements, expressing confidence that his efforts could help the All Progressives Congress (APC) retain power in 2027.
Speaking on Sunday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja during a Sallah homage by FCT residents, Tinubu praised Wike’s leadership, dubbing him “Mr. Infrastructure.”
“We are living in peace, security is improving, hunger is reducing, and food prices are coming down. Our teachers, schools, and health facilities are being rehabilitated. Thank you, Wike.”
Tinubu credited Wike for modernizing Abuja, reviving abandoned projects, and streamlining bureaucratic processes. He also joked about Wike’s political alignment, recalling a discussion on the Treasury Single Account (TSA):
“I told him, if this thing goes too much in your favor, you will lose your job. Then he said, ‘Oga, we settle that.’”
Acknowledging Wike’s influence as a southern politician thriving in the North, Tinubu described it as a reflection of Nigeria’s diversity.
Wike, in response, expressed gratitude for the recognition and vowed to continue driving development in the capital.
