The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, has unveiled a nine-point development agenda focused on infrastructure, job creation, agriculture, healthcare, education and industrialisation ahead of the 2027 election.

Adeola presented the agenda on Friday during a courtesy visit to the Ogun State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the Iwe Iroyin Press Centre in Abeokuta, describing it as a “covenant” with the people.

“I stand before you not as a politician reciting promises, but as a son of Ogun State bringing you a covenant, a plan I intend to be held accountable to, page by page, project by project.”

The Ogun West senator proposed positioning Ogun as an export gateway under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), with free trade zones, dry ports and economic clusters.

His transportation plans include an Ogun State Bus Mass Transit Programme, commuter rail links between Abeokuta and Lagos, and “OgunRide”, a state-backed platform offering commercial transport operators health insurance, vehicle financing and cooperative support.

Adeola pledged to expand technical and vocational training, improve healthcare in underserved communities and revitalise the “Ilera D’ero” health insurance scheme, targeting two million enrollees.

He also promised to train 100,000 young people in digital skills by 2031 and establish a Youth Enterprise Hub in Abeokuta with satellite centres across the state.

His security proposals include increased funding for the Ogun State Security Trust Fund, a Cybersecurity and Security Operations Centre and a Residents Identity Management Agency.

On agriculture and natural resources, Adeola proposed mechanisation, farmer financing, processing hubs, agro-industrial parks and reforms to bring artisanal miners into the formal economy. He also highlighted oil exploration prospects around Eba Island and Tongeji Island.

For revenue, he proposed a single-window collection system and a 40 per cent increase in internally generated revenue by 2031, alongside full minimum wage implementation and improved civil service welfare.

He also pledged to strengthen local government administration in line with the Supreme Court’s 2024 ruling on financial autonomy.

Adeola said his manifesto would be translated into measurable targets, with regular public reporting on implementation.

“I do not come to you asking you to believe me. I come asking you to hold me to this manifesto, line by line, project by project,” he said.
