Supreme Court Judgment: Zamfara Police Bans Political Gatherings, Rallies

Ahead of the Supreme Court’s impending verdict on the governorship election in Zamfara, police authorities in the state, led by Commissioner Muhammad Dalijan, have imposed a ban on political gatherings and rallies.
This decision, issued just hours before the expected judgment, particularly pertains to one of the petitions filed by Governor Dauda Lawal. The petition seeks to challenge the court of appeal’s decision that invalidated Lawal’s election, mandating a rerun.
Commissioner Dalijan cautioned supporters of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against making statements that could potentially incite violence in the state.
He emphasized that security forces would be on high alert, prepared to take decisive action against anyone engaging in such acts.
With police operatives deployed throughout the state to maintain law and order, Commissioner Dalijan urged residents to proceed with their activities while assuring them of the authorities’ commitment to ensuring a secure environment.
