Tottenham Hotspur Secures Romanian Defender Radu Dragusin From Genoa In £25 Million Deal

Tottenham Hotspur has successfully acquired the talents of Romanian defender Radu Dragusin from Genoa in the Italian Serie A.
The transfer reportedly involved a £25 million fee for the 21-year-old player. Dragusin becomes Tottenham’s second January signing, following the loan agreement with German forward Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.
This season, the 13-cap Romanian international showcased his skills by starting in all 22 of Genoa’s games. Formerly with Juventus, Dragusin moved to Genoa in the summer of the previous year before committing to a contract that ties him to Tottenham Hotspur until the summer of 2030.
Despite Bayern Munich’s attempt to sign Dragusin, Tottenham Hotspur secured the deal, leading Bayern to sign Eric Dier from Tottenham on loan. Dier, 29, with 49 caps for England, made the move to Germany due to his limited opportunities in Tottenham’s first squad this season.
Tottenham faced defensive challenges with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven sidelined for the season due to injuries. This prompted the need for a center back, filled by Dragusin’s arrival.
In recent weeks, manager Postecoglou improvised by deploying full-backs Ben Davies and Emerson Royal in central defense. Additionally, the return of defender Spence from a loan at Leeds was prompted by the shortage of defensive options.
