Senate in Chaos as Akpabio Orders Kogi Senator Out of Chamber

There was confusion at the Nigerian Senate on Thursday, February 20, when Senate President Godswill Akpabio ordered Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) out of the Red Chamber over a seating arrangement dispute.

The drama unfolded when the Senate’s Chief Whip, Ali Monguno, pointed out that Akpoti-Uduaghan was not sitting in her newly assigned seat, as approved by the Senate leadership. Despite the directive, the Kogi senator refused to comply.

As Monguno concluded his point of order, Akpoti-Uduaghan raised her voice in protest, demanding to be heard on the matter. The situation escalated, prompting the Sergeant-at-Arms to intervene, surrounding the senator and urging her to leave the chamber.

A viral video captured the tense moment, showing Akpoti-Uduaghan visibly agitated, raising her voice even as security personnel attempted to calm her down.

The incident has sparked reactions, with some questioning the necessity of the relocation and others criticizing the manner in which the situation was handled.
