The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has received a boost ahead of the August 15 governorship election after the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro, withdrew from the race and endorsed him.

Adeyemi-Doro announced his decision on Saturday in Osogbo following consultations with APGA executives across the state.

He said he and his supporters had agreed to back Oyebamiji and the APC in the election, citing alignment with the progressive camp.

“I am here today to declare publicly to the good people of Osun State our allegiance, support, and collaboration as we join His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, and the APC,” he said.

The former APGA candidate said his decision followed an assessment of the candidates in the race and consultations with the party’s state chairman, secretary and other senior officials.

“We have reached an alignment. At the end of the day, we are all progressives,” he added.

Adeyemi-Doro also pledged that APGA members and his supporters would vote for Oyebamiji on August 15.

Receiving the endorsement, Oyebamiji thanked Adeyemi-Doro and assured his supporters that they would be accommodated in his administration if he wins the election.

He also appealed to members of other political parties to join his campaign in what he described as a collective effort to build a better Osun State.

Also speaking, Issah Adedotun Niniola, Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to President Bola Tinubu, described the endorsement as a significant boost to the APC’s chances in the Osun election.

He added that the development would strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 presidential election, insisting that the APC remained the party to beat.
