Oshiomhole Rallies Support for APC in Edo Governorship Election

Edo North lawmaker, Adams Oshiomhole, has declared that every member and supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state is an integral part of the campaign council aimed at securing victory for the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Oshiomhole made this statement on Friday during the inauguration of the campaign council for the September 21 governorship election.
The former governor of Edo State urged all party members to actively work towards Okpebholo’s success. “I am saying here that every member and supporter of the APC is a member of the campaign for genuine change under the leadership of Senator Monday Okpebholo,” Oshiomhole asserted.
He emphasized that despite holding the title of chairman of the campaign council, it was the collective effort of all party members that would secure victory. “I urge every member of the party in the state to work hard to win their units and wards. Every member is a canvasser,” he added.
Oshiomhole expressed his willingness to take on any role necessary, even that of a sweeper, to ensure Okpebholo’s success in the governorship race. The Director General of the Campaign Council, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, also encouraged members to work diligently, acknowledging the significant challenge of defeating the incumbent government.
He called on party members to resolve their differences, focus on the party’s victory, and minimize the emphasis on financial incentives.
Earlier, State Chairman of the APC, Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, reflected on the legacy of previous governors like the late Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia, Prof. Ambrose Alli, and Adams Oshiomhole, who he credited with providing good governance.
He criticized the current administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki for failing to build on Oshiomhole’s achievements, citing issues such as flooding in Benin and the absence of well-maintained schools. Tenebe expressed confidence that with Okpebholo and Dennis Idahosa in office, these issues would be addressed, and the party would restore effective governance in the state.
