The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has officially welcomed Bashir Bayo Ojulari as its new Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ojulari, a seasoned mechanical engineer from Kwara State, assumed leadership of the national oil company during a handover ceremony held in Abuja on Friday. He takes over from Mele Kyari, who pledged his full support to the incoming management.
Prior to his appointment, Ojulari served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Renaissance Africa Energy Company. In his inaugural address, he emphasized continuity and innovation, stating his commitment to building on the achievements of his predecessor.
“I will be counting on your support. I will need it. I will be coming around to seek your counsel,” Ojulari told Kyari during the ceremony.
Kyari, in his farewell message, congratulated Ojulari and thanked NNPC staff and management for their cooperation during his tenure. He reassured them of his ongoing support, saying he remains “just a call away.”
In line with its restructuring agenda, NNPC also announced a new eight-member Senior Management Team that will work closely with the GCEO to advance the company’s strategic goals. The appointments, which take immediate effect, include:
- Rowland Ewubare – Group Chief Operating Officer
- Adedapo Segun – Group Chief Financial Officer
- Olalekan Ogunleye – Executive Vice President, Gas, Power & New Energy
- Udy Ntia – Executive Vice President, Upstream
- Mumuni Dangazau – Executive Vice President, Downstream
- Sophia Mbakwe – Executive Vice President, Business Services
- Adesua Dozie – Company Secretary & Chief Legal Officer
NNPC emphasized that the new leadership is expected to drive the company’s transformation and support Ojulari in fulfilling its mandate in alignment with Nigeria’s national energy priorities.
