The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has reflected on his political journey, saying he would ask God why he was led to leave his comfort zone for public service if given the opportunity.

Speaking to his supporters, the former Anambra State governor described politics as a challenging path but said he believes every individual is placed where God intends them to be for a purpose.

Obi noted that despite the demands of political life, he remains committed to serving the public and using every opportunity to positively impact the lives of Nigerians.

“I’m a politician today, but if I ever have the opportunity to question God, I would ask Him why He allowed me to leave my comfort place and get involved in politics,” he said.

He added that his position and achievements were made possible by divine grace, stressing that such privilege must be exercised with responsibility.

“But wherever we find ourselves is where God wants us to be, and we must do everything we can for the benefit of the masses.

“I’m here by the grace of God and I must not abuse His grace, whether it’s in a private, corporate, or in government.”

Obi began his political career in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), where he served as Governor of Anambra State. He later joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and emerged as the party’s vice-presidential candidate before moving to the Labour Party ahead of the 2023 presidential election, where he finished third.

He is now seeking Nigeria’s highest office in the 2027 presidential election as the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
