On August 2, 2023, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) plans to embark on a nationwide strike.
The planned industrial action was put on hold when the NLC gave the Federal Government a seven-day deadline to change any perceived anti-poor measures, such as the most recent increase in the price of petrol at the pump.
According to Vanguard, the NLC has also ordered all of its affiliates and state councils to start mobilizing employees and other Nigerians, including supporters from the civil society, for a long-lasting strike and large-scale demonstrations if the government does not comply with its demands.
According to reports, this was one of the decisions made during the NLC Central Working Committee, CWC, meeting on Tuesday, July 25, at Abuja Labour House.
