Nigerian Army Redeploys Senior Officers in Major Reshuffle to Boost Efficiency

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the redeployment of senior officers across the Nigerian Army to key command, staff, and instructional roles.

In a statement, Army spokesperson Major General Onyema Nwachukwu described the move as a strategic effort to bolster operational effectiveness and administrative efficiency.

The reshuffle affects Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at Army Headquarters, General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, training institution heads, Brigade Commanders, and other key positions.

Key Appointments:

Principal Staff Officers (PSOs):

  • Major General LA Fejokwu: Chief of Administration (Army), Department of Army Administration.
  • Major General GU Chibuisi: Chief of Civil Military Affairs, Department of Civil Military Affairs.
  • Major General AS Ndalolo: Chief of Training (Army), Department of Army Training.
  • Major General OS Abai: Chief of Transformation and Innovation.
  • Major General JH Abdussalam: Chief of Special Services and Programmes.
  • Major General EI Okoro: Military Secretary (Army).

General Officers Commanding (GOCs):

  • Major General OT Olatoye: GOC 82 Division/Commander Joint Task Force South East, Operation UDO KA.
  • Major General EF Oyinlola: GOC 3 Division/Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN.
  • Major General AGL Haruna: GOC 7 Division.
  • Major General IA Ajose: GOC 8 Division.

Corps Commanders:

  • Major General OC Ajunwa: Commander, Nigerian Army Armour Corps.
  • Major General HT Wesley: Commander, Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps.
  • Major General TT Numbere: Commander, Nigerian Army Engineers.

Training Institution Heads:

  • Major General UM Alkali: Commandant, Army War College Nigeria.
  • Major General FS Etim: Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Infantry.
  • Major General AB Mohammed: Commandant, Depot Nigerian Army.

Lieutenant General Oluyede emphasized the need for renewed vigor and commitment from the appointees, particularly in addressing security challenges such as terrorism and insurgency. He also underscored the importance of prioritizing troop welfare and upholding professionalism in the service.

The redeployment reflects the Nigerian Army’s focus on enhancing operational readiness and ensuring effective leadership across its ranks.
