The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has granted approval for Max Air to resume its domestic flight operations following a successful economic and safety audit.
Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, announced the development on Monday, stating that the airline had met all regulatory requirements.
Max Air had voluntarily suspended its domestic operations for 90 days on January 29, 2025, after a series of flight incidents—a decision welcomed by the NCAA. During the suspension, the aviation authority conducted a thorough review of the airline’s safety and economic compliance.
Achimugu explained that the safety audit, carried out from February 26 to 28, 2025, assessed Max Air’s organizational structure, operational procedures, personnel, and aircraft to ensure alignment with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023.
“Given the results of the audit, which confirm Max Air’s capacity to sustain safe flight operations, the airline will resume domestic flights, effective from midnight on March 17, 2025,” the statement read.
The NCAA also assured that it will maintain close oversight of the airline through an enhanced surveillance program to ensure strict adherence to safety standards.
