Kwankwaso Rejects ADC Northern Presidential Ticket

Rabiu Kwankwaso, vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has cautioned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against zoning its 2027 presidential ticket to a Northern candidate, insisting that it is the South’s turn to produce Nigeria’s next president.

Kwankwaso made the call on Sunday during an interactive session with journalists at his residence in Kano.

The former Kano State governor, who is running alongside NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi, argued that the North should wait until 2031, saying the South had yet to complete its eight-year turn in the presidency.

“ADC will lose if it gives ticket to North. It’s the turn of the South in 2027. ADC should not give its presidential ticket to the North. North should wait till 2031,” Kwankwaso said.

He advised the ADC to zone its presidential ticket to the South, arguing that Nigerians were demanding fairness and equity in the distribution of political power.

Kwankwaso is from the North, while Obi, his running mate on the NDC platform, is from the South.
