Kano Govt Takes Steps to Improve State Education

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has declared a state of emergency in the education sector.
The announcement was made on Saturday during an event where the governor distributed educational materials to schools, awarded scholarships to students, and provided soft loans to teachers.
Governor Yusuf revealed that the state government has recruited over 5,000 new teachers and plans to hire an additional 10,000. Furthermore, 1,000 classrooms will be constructed across the state’s 44 local government areas.
This declaration comes in response to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) report indicating that Kano had about a million out-of-school children as of October 2023. The state of emergency aims to address this issue and improve the quality of education in the state.
